Senegal and Morocco on Monday signed 17 cooperation agreements following the 15th session of the Senegalese-Moroccan Joint High Commission, co-chaired by Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and his Moroccan counterpart, Aziz Akhannouch.
The accords, signed by ministers and senior officials from both countries, cover a broad set of sectors including higher education, road safety, port infrastructure, industrial development, standardization and the digital economy, according to statements from both prime ministries.
The meeting reaffirmed the long-standing institutional cooperation between Dakar and Rabat, with both leaders calling for renewed momentum along the Dakar-Rabat axis.
Senegal’s prime minister highlighted the depth of sectoral collaboration and stressed the need to update bilateral mechanisms to reflect current economic and institutional priorities.
In a separate statement, Akhannouch said the agreements reflected a shared commitment to advance bilateral cooperation within a framework of integration and mutual respect.
He also underlined the convergence of views between Morocco and Senegal on strategic African issues, including regional integration and development coordination.
The Moroccan prime minister referenced royal initiatives aimed at promoting development, stability and cooperation across the continent, placing the bilateral partnership within a wider African context.
The Joint High Commission serves as the main institutional platform guiding Senegal-Morocco cooperation, bringing together sector ministries to review progress and adopt new legal and policy instruments.
The 15th session adds to a series of agreements signed over previous decades, spanning trade, education, transport and technical cooperation.
