South Africa’s women’s and men’s hockey teams reaffirmed their continental dominance by winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ismailia, Egypt, securing gold and qualification for the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup. They defeated Egypt 5–1 and Ghana 4–0 in the respective finals.
The victories secured South Africa’s qualification for the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands.
It marked the men’s ninth continental title and extended the women’s winning streak to eight consecutive championships since 2009.
FIH President Tayyab Ikram, who presented the trophies, praised the teams’ achievements and the overall tournament spirit.
“This edition of the Africa Cup of Nations truly embodied the spirit of African hockey – passion, unity, and excellence,” he said, commending players’ pride and dedication.
Ikram also thanked the Egyptian Hockey Federation, African Hockey Federation, and all participating teams for delivering an inspiring event that underscored Africa’s growing global hockey presence.
