Tanzania Mourns the Loss of Accomplished Public Health Leader
DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania (BG) – Dr. Faustine Ndugulile, the newly elected Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Africa Region, passed away on Wednesday while receiving medical treatment in India, Tanzania authorities announced. He was 55.
The announcement of his death was made by Tanzania’s Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Tulia Ackson, who expressed sorrow at the loss. “I received the sad news of Dr. Ndugulile’s passing with great sorrow. His death is a loss not only to the people of Kigamboni but to all Tanzanians. May the Almighty rest his soul in peace,” she said, as reported by local media outlet The Citizen.
Dr. Ndugulile, a Member of Parliament representing Kigamboni, one of five districts of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania, was a respected medical professional, public health specialist, and politician with over 20 years of experience in public service.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania also expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and the nation, calling Dr. Ndugulile’s death a significant loss.
