As the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 enters its final stages, Moroccan officials are using the tournament to promote the country’s capacity to host major international events and attract high-value tourism.

The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) has invited travel influencers, tour operators and journalists from key international markets to experience the event and tour the country’s infrastructure firsthand.

Visitors from the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Italy and Belgium are attending matches and visiting facilities as part of the ONMT’s campaign to highlight Morocco’s readiness for large-scale sporting events.

The initiative showcases stadiums, transportation networks, hotels and cultural landmarks across host cities.

According to the ONMT, these countries represent strategic growth markets for tourism. By offering direct exposure to the AFCON experience, officials aim to generate international media coverage and word-of-mouth endorsements.

The campaign is part of a broader strategy that includes roadshows across Africa and Europe, airline partnerships to increase flight capacity, and the global release of a signature film, ‘Morocco, Land of Football’, in 12 countries.

Fan zones have been set up in cities including Essaouira, Oujda and Laâyoune to extend the tournament’s reach beyond stadiums.

The effort builds on a partnership signed in April 2025 between the ONMT and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation to position the country as a leading destination for both football and tourism through 2030.

The Africa Cup of Nations 2025, held from Dec. 21, 2025, to Jan. 18, 2026, has been praised by officials, teams and fans for its high standards.

Morocco, a co-host of the FIFA World Cup 2030 with Spain and Portugal, is using the event to showcase its ability to support major global events with sustainable, modern infrastructure.

By the end of October 2025, Morocco recorded 16.5 million tourist arrivals, a 14% increase compared with the same period in 2024
