YAOUNDÉ, Cameroon (BG) – The Cameroonian government has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative to streamline and digitize administrative and financial procedures, taking a significant step toward modernizing its public administration.
Joseph LE, Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform, announced the launch of the “AIGLES” platform on Monday. The platform, set to launch on Jan. 1, 2025, officially aligns with the government’s broader goal of enhancing efficiency and transparency in public services.
“The AIGLES Government Software embodies the vision of the Head of State, H.E. Paul Biya, for a modern Cameroonian civil service at the service of citizens,” Joseph LE stated, emphasizing the platform’s objectives to simplify, dematerialize, and accelerate administrative and financial processes.
A Milestone in Public Administration
The minister highlighted a historic milestone in the project’s development, with the contractor, SIMAC, officially transferring the source codes for AIGLES to the Cameroonian government.
“The transfer ensures that the State of Cameroon fully owns this critical software,” Joseph LE tweeted, noting the strategic importance of the move.
Acknowledging the collaborative efforts behind the project, the minister praised the technical teams from SIMAC, AFREETECH, and a dedicated Task Force.
He described their contributions as delivering “particularly satisfying results” while urging vigilance as the platform nears its rollout.
A Vision for the Future
Joseph LE reaffirmed the platform’s alignment with President Biya’s vision for a citizen-focused public administration. “At the conclusion of the 100th session of our Task Force and less than 48 hours before its launch, AIGLES is poised for success,” he stated.
The AIGLES platform is expected to transform public sector management in Cameroon by improving efficiency, transparency, and accessibility.
SIMAC, a Tunisian IT engineering company specializing in technological solutions, and AFREETECH, a digital services firm in Central Africa and France, were instrumental in the project’s development.
As Cameroon embraces digital transformation, the AIGLES platform signals a pivotal moment in the country’s journey toward enhanced governance and service delivery.
The initiative reflects a broader digital transformation trend across Africa, aligning with the continent’s focus on leveraging technology to enhance governance, transparency, and service delivery while stimulating job creation, addressing poverty, reducing inequality, improving the delivery of goods and services, and advancing the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals
