ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (BG) — Ethiopia has officially launched its first electronic passport (E-passport) in a landmark event held at the Science Museum in the capital Addis Ababa on Friday.
The initiative, spearheaded by Immigration and Citizenship Services (ICS), Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH), and Toppan Security Ethiopia S.C., represents a major step forward in modernizing the country’s travel documentation system.
The E-passport launch ceremony, attended by H.E. President Taye Atske Selassie, featured the presentation of the first copies of the new passport to Ethiopia’s leadership, EIH said in a statement.
Senior government officials, diplomats, and international partners gathered to celebrate this milestone in national security, digital transformation, and service efficiency.
