Mali’s Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Employment and Vocational Training, Oumou Sall Seck, urged young people to reject the pursuit of “easy money” and remain united and vigilant as the country responds to the aftermath of a deadly attack that killed the country’s defense minister.
According to a ministry statement, Seck began a series of visits on Monday to vocational training centers and employment sector stakeholders to deliver messages of calm, resilience and responsibility to young people.
The initiative followed what the ministry described as a terrorist attack on April 25 that killed Mali’s defense minister, Gen. Sadio Camara, whom the statement called “a worthy son of Mali.”
“Mali has been struck, but Mali remains standing. Let us remain united and vigilant,” Seck said during the visits.
Her tour included stops at the Missabougou Vocational Training Center, Rosey des Métiers and the Senou Vocational Training Center.
At each institution, Seck encouraged students to remain calm and act responsibly, while warning them against the temptation of “easy money.”
She urged young people to embrace patriotism, loyalty and love of country during what she described as a sensitive moment for the nation.
The minister also said values such as citizenship, unity and solidarity were essential to preserving social stability and supporting efforts toward a peaceful and prosperous Mali.
Officials at the training centers welcomed the initiative, describing it as an effort to raise awareness among youth and strengthen civic engagement.
At the Senou training center, the final stop of the tour, activities began with a flag-raising ceremony that the ministry said symbolized commitment to republican values.
Local officials also pledged to continue awareness campaigns among students.
