Nigeria has launched GovGuide, an artificial intelligence-powered platform designed to help citizens navigate information from more than 35 federal ministries and over 60 government agencies through WhatsApp and the web.

Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy Minister Bosun Tijani announced the launch Thursday, describing the platform as a step toward bridging language and access gaps in public service delivery.

GovGuide is available in English, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba.

“Technology and AI work for the people, especially underserved and low-literacy communities across the country,” Tijani said.

The platform is the product of a three-way collaboration between the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR), Meta and Publica AI.

Its WhatsApp integration targets Nigerians in areas where smartphone ownership is limited and data costs remain a barrier to conventional web browsing, two conditions that affect a significant share of the country’s more than 220 million people.

“GovGuide demonstrates what is possible when government, the private sector and local innovators work together to solve real challenges,” Tijani said.

Nigeria has prioritized digital infrastructure as a pillar of its economic diversification drive.

The administration has framed AI adoption as central to that effort, and NCAIR serves as the federal government’s primary vehicle for building domestic AI capacity.

The multilingual design reflects a practical challenge that shapes digital inclusion across the continent.

GovGuide is accessible at govguide.ng and through WhatsApp.
