OUAGADOUGOU
Burkina Faso’s prime minister has called on government institutions, regional authorities, the private sector and civil society to accelerate efforts toward economic transformation under the country’s new Plan RELANCE 2026-2030, a national development framework focused on sovereignty, resilience and structural economic change.
The appeal was made during the 2026 session of the Strategic Orientation Committee for the Plan RELANCE 2026-2030, which Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo chaired in Ouagadougou on Friday, June 5, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
The meeting brought together government ministers, regional governors, officials responsible for implementing and monitoring public policies, private-sector representatives and civil society organizations.
Participants reviewed the 2025 Annual Performance Report of the National Development Policy and assessed achievements recorded during the 2021-2025 period.
Ouédraogo highlighted progress made under the 2023-2025 Action Plan for Stabilization and Development, noting that real gross domestic product growth increased from 4.8% in 2024 to 5.3% in 2025.
The overall implementation rate of the National Development Policy was estimated at 85.5%, despite what officials described as a challenging national and international environment.
The prime minister said those gains should be strengthened by implementing strategic reforms and major investment projects outlined in the new plan.
He urged public institutions and development actors to prioritize measurable results, accountability, innovation and efficient execution of programs.
According to the government, the Plan RELANCE aligns with the country’s broader development agenda and aims to build a more resilient, sovereign and inclusive economy through the development of domestic resources, structural transformation of productive sectors and greater national ownership of the development process.
Key priorities include strengthening security and restoring territorial integrity, expanding economic sovereignty, accelerating industrial and agro-sylvo-pastoral transformation, developing infrastructure, promoting human capital and youth employment, and improving governance.
Ouédraogo also called for greater mobilization of domestic resources and increased participation by local governments, businesses, communities and civil society groups in implementing development initiatives.
Government officials said the success of the plan is expected to support food sovereignty, encourage local processing of mineral and agricultural resources, improve access to basic social services, expand energy, transport and industrial infrastructure, modernize public administration and create jobs for young people.
The prime minister instructed ministers, regional governors and program managers to accelerate strategic reforms and investment projects while maintaining a strong focus on accountability and results, the statement said.
