KIGALI, Rwanda
Benin President Romuald Wadagni joined Rwandan President Paul Kagame for an informal evening walk in Kigali on Wednesday during his two-day official visit to Rwanda.
The two leaders walked along the Nyarutarama Green Carpet, one of Kigali’s green corridors designed to provide residents with safe and accessible spaces for walking, running and other outdoor activities, according to Rwanda’s presidency.
Earlier in the day, Kagame received Wadagni and his delegation at Urugwiro Village, where the two presidents held a private meeting marking the start of the visit.
Rwanda’s presidency said the leaders later tasked their delegations with strengthening existing bilateral cooperation and advancing new areas of collaboration.
The Beninese presidency said Wadagni’s first day in Kigali included high-level talks, a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial and discussions focused on investment.
Kagame also hosted Wadagni for an official lunch.
The visit comes as Benin and Rwanda continue efforts to deepen cooperation in areas including security, trade, investment, transport, tourism and information and communications technology.
The cooperation reflects years of steadily expanding ties between the two countries.
Their collaboration has evolved from diplomatic goodwill into practical initiatives that boost economic growth, strengthen institutions, and promote knowledge sharing, reinforcing both nations’ commitment to greater intra-African cooperation and sustainable development.
